The Axum map sheet (ND 37-6) is located in Tigray Region, northern Ethiopia. It is situated at the extreme north of the country straddling the Ethio-Eritrean border. It covers parts of Adwa, Axum and Shire Indaselassie zones of the Region. That part of the map sheet reported here is only for the Ethiopian sector which lies south of Mereb river. Geographically, it lies between 37° 30' and 39° 00'E longitude, and 14°00' latitude and the Mereb River; covering 9600 square kilometers.
